Rafaël Beauchamp is a French Canadian director based in Montreal, interested in exploring character dramas through the lens of genre cinema.
His first short film LES BATTUES had its world premiere at SXSW 2023, in addition to being screened at about twenty festivals such as Regard and Palm Springs.
His second project, LES PETITES VICTOIRES, was presented at Short Shorts Asia, Palm Springs, Fantasia, and is a finalist in the Best Live Action Short category at the 2026 Canadian Screen Awards.
Continuing his exploration of genre cinema, his science-fiction short film LE GOÛT DE TES ÉCAILLES premiered at Tampere Film Festival and Regard, and is currently continuing its festival run. It won Best Horror Film at Indy Shorts, and Best Cinematography at Fantasia Film Festival.
Rafaël also took part in Sundance Ignite in 2023, an incubator for emerging filmmakers. He is currently working on his first feature film, LES YEUX DE VERRE, and on a new short film, RENAISSANCE.
He does NOT like talking about himself in the third person and plays with his hair when he is focused (and/or nervous).
